Joseph Uzéric's two sons, Jules and Gérard, followed their father's footsteps. They attended
the Technical School in Québec city and worked for J.U. Houle during the summer, from 1941 to
1945 in the case of Jules, and from 1943 to 1947 as far as Gérard is concerned. After
obtaining his diploma, Jules worked for Quebec Power, known today as Hydro-Québec, as an
inspector in charge of detecting frauds on residential power lines. He worked there until
the beginning of 1946, when he was hired by J.U. Houle on a permanent basis. As for Gérard, he
attended the Technical School in Trois-Rivières to acquire additional skills in the field of
refrigeration. This was followed by working for Vandry Inc., a commercial refrigeration
contractor in Quebec city, until he joined the team at J.U. Houle in 1948.
On May 7, 1950, the business became a chartered company and took on the name of J.U. Houle
ltée. Jules and Gérard became co-owners. Business was doing well and continued to thrive.
Seven years later, on April 3, 1957, J.U. Houle ltée converted to a distributor of plumbing and heating products.
In order to meet the needs of the growing company, offices and warehouses were built on a 100 000-square foot area located on Roux Avenue in Sainte-Victoire. The company is still there today, but the address has changed to 75 Sacré-Coeur Boulevard, Victoriaville. During that period, the business owned 6 trucks and hired the services of some 20 employees.
In 1961, the company added the distribution of municipal products to the range of products offered
to its clients.
At that time, the company already serviced a huge territory which included the Beauce, Mauricie, Bois-Francs, Centre du Québec and Estrie regions. It covered large areas between Montreal and Quebec - from the American border right up to the Haute-Mauricie region - and correspond to J.U. Houle ltée's present territory.
After many profitable years, Jules decided to leave the business in 1983. At that point, Gérard became the sole owner.
