The Third Generation: The Family Tradition Is Passed On

La relève, Jean, Gérard et Pierre Always a family-run business, J. U. Houle ltée has now been operated by three generations. This is thanks to the arrival of Jean Houle in May 1986, who had just finished his accounting studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal, and of Pierre Houle, in February 1994. The latter has a B.A. in civil engineering and has taken complementary building systems and industrial engineering courses at the Polytechnic School in Montreal in 1986. Prior to this, Pierre worked for seven years in the Municipal, Environmental and Industrial divisions of the SNC-Lavalin engineering firm. Both continued the work of their predecessors who had put in place the company's administrative structure and technical features. Just as Jules and Gérard had done in the past, Jean and Pierre had also familiarized themselves with the business at a young age by working for J.U. Houle ltée during the summer.

In 1995, J.U. Houle ltée officially handed the reins to a third generation of administrators, as Gérard became Chairman of the Board, Jean, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Pierre, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer.
